A knight he rode ‘long the banks of a shore
And under the rowan trees
He lie down to rest and dream of the day
He’d return to his home near the sea
A midsummer day when he voyaged away
To fight in the royal crusade
The primrose so gold seemed to sparkle and sway
Through the forest he’d vanish and fade
For many long years through wintery grey
He honored the lord of the land
Under the shade in the rowan tree glade
He rode long the crystals of sand
And over the hill came the fearless old knight
From where he’d left that day
The primrose so fair nor withered nor aged
Took the mournful servant away
